I cannot say enough exceptional things about Reegan Van Engen as a horse trainer. A year and a half ago I purchased a 7 yr old Paint/Arab cross; probably was not the "smartest" buy but the moment I saw him I knew he was my "heart horse". I love this guy! Sadly he had been trained, very well and at 3 or 4 was sold to a beginner and was put out to pasture and was not ridden. The woman who I bought him from stated she was really looking for a quiet horse that she could get on and just putz with. Sadly for her, he was too "crazy". He had spent time with a trainer but she was not even comfortable with him attempting a canter. I brought him home and slowly did ground work with him and we bonded instantly. Unfortunately, his "Arab brain" (as Reegan called it) seemed to be stuck on. After I was thrown 4 or 5 times, never maliciously but more out of fear, I contacted Reegan. I had previously done a groundwork class with her and it was awesome. Reegan began working with him, and me (I have ridden for most of my life but had not really ridden in the last 10 years, plus I'm older!) and what a change I could see in him. Here was a scared horse who was turning on his "Quarterhorse brain" who was becoming confident in himself. Fast forward to today, I now have that Arab, using his Quarterhorse brain, and has become a nice easy going trail horse. Admittedly, there are times that he hangs his head like a pleasure horse trot that I wonder where that crazy boy went to. He is so much happier in life and he is such a pleasure to ride now. I still have Reegan come out once a week and truly ride him, take him through his paces, due to my schedule as well as I wanting nothing more than to mosey down the trail. If you have any questions, please reach out an ask me. If you are needing a trainer, this woman is second to none!

We had Reegan come out to help us wth our Mustang mares. They have had previous training but only minor groundwork for a year now. We have 1 Mare that is still not halter broke after having several trainers work with her. Reegan amazingly got a halter on her within 20 minutes, (I paid a trainer to come help with the halter specifically and it took her over na hour). This same Mare responded well with Reegan's pressure and release technique. My Mare was still unsure but realized quickly that there was a release of pressure right away when doing what was asked.
Our other Mustang Mare is more advanced as she was easier for trainers to work with. We were having issues saddling her, she likes to spin in circles once it's on. Reegan knew just what to do to get her comfortable and stop spinning. Looking forward to working with Reegan to get these girls riding.

Today was Jenna's first lesson and she got to ride a jumping horse! Her FIRST lesson. Despite struggling with lots of anxiety prior to her lesson, she persevered. I am so proud of all of the hard work she has put into riding. Even when it’s cold. Or she falls off. Or she struggles with not progressing fast enough to her goals. She gets up each day with such grit.
Reegan, got a gem of a student and Jenna got one hell of a badass instructor (talented rider in English and Western). Stay tuned! It won’t be long until she is competing!

Reegan is a wonderful trainer both for rider and horse. I brought my horse Diesel to one of her grounds clinics and learned so much about both myself and my horse. I was also having some issues with him after a traumatic event so I decided to keep Diesel with her to help him get past his anxiety. She did a great job!!! I highly recommend both lessons for yourself and for your horse if needed. She is honest, clear, direct and pretty darn funny.

"Not only does she train the horse, but also explains everything, in detail, while she is training, so if the owner is paying attention, they will know how to deal with most any problem that may arise, when Reegan is not there to help!"

I have a new found enthusiasm to start working with my horses again. Thank you Reegan for reminding me why I love working with horses! Can’t wait to attend a future clinic to expand my knowledge!

I didn't realize my new horse needed work in so many other areas until Reegan started working with him. He now works a round pen excellently, loads in the trailer, knows how to direct rein and one rein stop, he will back up, walk, and follow his nose. Most importantly,

Reegan Mitchell

showed ME how to do all this using her techniques so I can continue her work with my gelding. I feel like I have a new horse, and he is far more ready for the trail then he was when I brought him to

Reegan taught me to have confidence as a rider and how to understand my horse as well. She doesn't just train horses! She trains people as well. She creates a partnership between horse and rider. Just sayin' the truth!
